Part 1 – Summer Essential Colours
Denims have made a huge comeback in more than one way. Apart from the fabric denim, the relaxing soft blue shade of Denim is the current fashion rage! The denim blue shade is versatile enough to be matched with every shade out there. The shade is definitely a new entrant in the summer colour trends which has been heavily dominated by pastel shades so far!
The tart bright shades are a thing of past. The new shade in town involves springtime yellow married with the warmth and a sticky infusion of golden honeyed tones and amber tinted hues. The very speciality about the tone is the fact that it suits almost every Indian skin tone and imparts a cool yet dressy look. This colour can be modishly teamed with monochromes as a highlighter to give a summery appearance.
Lapis blue resonates with the natural shade of the stone lapis lazuli, and if worn correctly, can light up your look in no time. If blue is your favourite colour and you don’t want to adorn the classic navy blue on a sunny day, this lapis blue shade is what you should opt for. The cool calm and confident shade, will surely add to royal high in your wardrobe.
Summer shades need to be refreshing to look at and what can be more refreshing than the subtle aqua blue? With a slight variation in the tone, this Island aqua blue shade is one blue trend that you must have in your wardrobe. Team this vibrant and ‘tropical’ colour with undertones of greens and yellows to create an illusion of beachy freshness.
Among the new entrant this summer, is the flamboyant flame red orange! This bright new colour is ardently crackling and has a soothing effect on the eyes. This reddish orange is fun to wear and is playful to dress up with. You can match it with neutrals or vibrant shades and make a splash around.
50 shades of pink
Pink is a summer sweetheart and what makes it even more handsome a shade is it’s availability in myriads of shades. From neutral muted –subtle as a flower pink exuding innocence and purity –to sexy coral pink with hints of molten reds- throw a dart unto the pink colour code and you will find the perfect shade to brighten up your summer wardrobe. Also, another advantage of the many cool shades of pink is that it is the ‘it’ colour when cooking up a single colour look (which is a current fashion rage) and rocking a casual or formal look.
Greenery- kale-ish green, tangy yellow green, olive green, khaadi green, army green and so much more! Green- or the colour of foliage is a complete must have in your summer wardrobe. The colour associated with health and prosperity adds to the wintriness of your summer outfit and zings up hotness. You can wear the many shades as tops, kurtas and summer jackets on top of white tank tubes.
This is one of the most versatile and all-purpose colour and an absolute wardrobe must-have this summer. You can add the much needed oomph to the boring beiges by choosing the ‘hazelnut’ –an earthly neutral tone. This tone can be worn with almost any other shade, print and also as a single colour look. Hazelnut beige weaves an old world charm that warmly greets the summery sun.
Sweet Lilac / Electric Purple
Like pink, the colour purple too has a vast family and can be accommodated in the wardrobe in any season. To add a vivid touch to your summer wardrobe, try playing with the palest purple with cooling blue undertones for a fresh and feminine feel. Blue undertones add an icy coolness to womanly purples. Bright white accents (frills and ruffles) or accessories add to the freshness quotient. Talking about playing the purple right, try matching sweet lilac with electric purples and nail the same colour look.
